Shelby & Leland

The summer is flying by! We finished a week of VBS at the end of June. Shelby helped out in the preschool and Robbie got to attend the school age group - much more fun to be with the older kids! I helped out teaching the songs and making props and scenery. It was a long week and really months in all the planning.

At the end of that week, we went to our annual Kelley's Island camping. We never buy anything at the right time - we bought our four wheel drive suv the day gas doubles in price and it doesn't snow that winter! However, after many years of consideration and months of window shopping - we bought a pop up camper right around our anniversery. It paid for itself during this trip because it rained and stormed every day of our trip. The rest of our party spent the whole time drying out sleeping bags. We hope to take some small trips this summer and fall- next trip is Mohican next week! Bring on the rain!

We had the annual Kissell gathering last weekend at Port Clinton. My aunts and uncles have done a great job remodeling my grandparents home. It now resembles a really cool lake house and its so nice they let us enjoy it. We camped with my mom and dad in their rv in the driveway of the lake house, so it was like old times being able to visit with all my cousins. We got to see the fireworks in Oak Harbor and we all went to see Wall-E at the movies. We had two large group soccer and kick ball games - boy was I sore the next day!

The kids and I watched Leland for the first time this past Thursday for 10.5 hours. We sure had a great time with him. He slept really well and we even took a short trip to the zoo to see his mommy. It was a lot of fun and its the best being able to enjoy him all day and not having to get up in the middle of the night! He really is sweet and smiley. The only bad part is getting up in time for him to arrive at 5:30 am.

Shelby and her friend Maggie started golfing lessons this past spring and now are playing in a junior league. It really seems like a fun sport, we've enjoyed hitting balls with her in our yard. I hope to finally get the chance to go out golfing sometime soon too. The Hills even gave Robbie a small golf club set and he's starting to like the game, too.
After a few weeks of putting his mind to it and a lot of whining - Robbie can ride his bike. We took our first trail ride this week and actually made it 3 miles. Robbie's wheels are quite a bit smaller than the rest of ours, so the poor little guy has to pedal almost twice as much as we do. He loved it and safely stayed on the trail. He was ready to go again the next day. It's so nice to not have to pull him anymore!

Thats just a small glimpse of how our time is passing - hope you are having fun too!

Did you really say "LAKE HOUSE"? It was great fun having everyone together, wasn't it? And, you're always welcome to use the house. We hope to be back to Ohio later this year. We'll let you know. Aunt Nancy
