North Carolina
Meerkat keeping watch at the zoo...
Last week, the kids and I got the chance to go to North Carolina with Jeff while he was on a business trip. We had a great time exploring some of the zoos and museums, unfortunately Jeff is still there. Not because I left him there, but there continue to be a lot of persistent problems with this project. He will probably be gone for four weeks total and I can't begin to tell you all how bummed we all are about this. I'm so glad the kids and I decided to go with for the first week. He's been working really long hours and comes back to his hotel at night to deal with all the day to day business back at the plant here in Ohio.
North Carolina sure is different than Ohio. As I like to call it "the land where time stood still". The vast majority of the place has no sense of time or commitment for that matter. We really started to think we were being taped for Candid Camera or Punk'd. The kids and I really liked asking the hotel desk for towels every day. We usually had our towels by the third request, I've never heard of a hotel running out of towels??? They were really puzzled by our request for a chair for the desk in our room. We figured Jeff's legs would get tired if had to stand for an hour answering his emails. It took over ten minutes for a hostess to seat us in an empty restaurant. The manager was able to give her some help and they eventually solved this dilema and sat us at one of the 60 empty tables. I tried to take the kids to the movies, but they listed the wrong times. The movies had all started by the time we got there. You say I should of called the theatre before I left to verify the times - you would think so. Well I tried but I kept getting their fax machine...??? I should have known better by that time because everywhere we went it was like this. Unfortunately, this doesn't even compare to the business problems Jeff has been facing all week.
